New York Comic Con: Tickets Now for Fun Later
Want to go to a comic convention? A little intimidated by the whole process? Have no fear, I’m here to help! San Diego Comic Con is already sold out for 2018, but there could still be time for your local/nearest city. There is definitely still time to get tickets for New York Comic Con (NYCC), but there are a few steps you need to go through before you can get your show badges.
Decide if you want to (and can) go. NYCC is October 4-7, but you can go any combination of days. Prices range from $50 for Thursday, Oct. 4 to $55 for Saturday, Oct. 6. Mix and match for your schedule and price points. I got Friday through Sunday for a total of about $181 with taxes and fees.
Get yourself “Fan Verified.” The company that sells tickets requires that every individual person has his or her own profile on newyorkcomiccon.com. This attempts to discourage scalpers, but that hasn’t been verified by fans. The verification process for new attendees is open now and will only stay open until July 8.
Get ready to buy! Badges go on sale at noon on July 15. Be ready at a computer a few minutes before, as badges sell out very quickly; NYCC is high in demand.
After you buy, you need to assign your badge to your fan profile on the website. It only takes a sec.
Wait for your physical badge in the mail and mentally prepare yourself. NYCC is a unique experience that any Fan should attend at least once. Many people dress up in costumes and express their fandom in a way that is unique to comic conventions.
Congrats! You’re well on your way to one of the biggest shows of the year. Enjoy, and hope to see you there!
